Appealing Aquitaine

back

There is more to the marvellous region of Aquitaine than its celebrated wines of Bordeaux, Saint-Emilion and Bergerac. Starting in the south of Les Landes, the "secret garden of Aquitaine", there are discoveries to be made.

Our four-night package will take you from this extraordinarily pretty, valleyed countryside as far as the Atlantic Pyrénées.
Highlights include the Domaine du Tastet and the landscape of the Tursan. In Geaune, the epicentre of the production area, you can stop in the local winery, Cave des Vignerons Landais, to get a taste of Tursan wines.

Some wines are grown to be distilled into brandies. Your tour will introduce you to the Garreau family, makers of exceptional armagnac.
Domaine d'Ognoas is a showcase of seven centuries of history, with the oldest still in Gascony. Each year the estate's owners distil about 80,000 litres of wine to give 15,000 litres of armagnac, which is then aged in oak barrels for up to 40 years.
Finally you head for the northern part of the Pyrénées, to historic Béarn, to discover the wines of Jurancon. They offer a variety of scents and flavours, worthy of the greatest wines.
The locals are proud of their wine and way of life, not to mention the glorious landscape in which the grapes are grown.
